Beautiful, original project that leads to deep reflection. I like the idea of the balloons for their denotations and connotations in this poem. There are actually many balloons in each political campaign. At the same time, the false promises of the politicians are like the emptiness inside of a balloon, air that vanishes into nothingness. Love how you end the poem with the fall “as lifeless bits and pieces”. The idea of drought brings me back to T.S.Eliot’s The Waste Land and the burning of the wings to Greek mythology with the flight of Icarus.
